As a Lead in Card Settlement, I can provide value as a mentor on areas that relates to practical hands-on settlement operations, card scheme onboarding, and process automation. I can help mentees understand not just what to do, but why things are done a certain way, especially in managing settlement cycles, reconciliations, exception handling, and fund recovery.
I can guide mentees on structured problem-solving, attention to detail, and stakeholder management when dealing with processors and card schemes. Beyond technical skills, I can mentor on process improvement, documentation, and automation readiness - helping mentees think proactively about efficiency and risk reduction.
Lastly, I be of support to mentees in building confidence, professionalism, and a strong work ethic, while offering career guidance based on real banking and e-channels experience, enabling them to grow into reliable subject-matter experts and future leaders.
Key accomplishments
As a lead in the card settlement team, I played a key role in designing and implementing settlement processes for new card schemes, including AMEX and Afrigo. I also served as a primary contact for the automation of multiple settlement processes, contributing significantly to the overall success of the automation project. Additionally, I conducted in-depth investigations into complex fund-related issues and successfully facilitated the recovery of affected funds from processors.
In recognition of my expertise and contributions, I received the Best Helping Hand Award at Access Bank PLC in 2022. Previously, at Wema Bank PLC, I was awarded Best Settlement Officer (departmental award) and Best Officer in E-Channels (bank-wide award) in 2020.
