Key accomplishments
Taiwo Joda is the Managing Director/CEO of Accion Microfinance Bank (www.accionmfb.com) . A transformational leader with over 25 years leadership experience in finance and banking, he has led Accion for more than eight years, establishing a distinguished track record in financial inclusion, strategic execution, and digital transformation.
Professionally, Taiwo is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (FCIB), a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Management (FNIM), and a member of the Chartered Institute of Directors (MCIoD). His industry leadership includes serving as Vice Chairman of the Microfinance Learning and Development Center (MLDC) Board and on the Steering Committee of the National Microfinance Platform. He previously chaired the Lagos State chapter of the National Association of Microfinance Banks (2020-2022) and served on the Governing Council of the Fintech Association of Nigeria (2018-2021).
His strategic vision has garnered significant recognition, including the Microfinance Bank CEO of the Year award (2022, 2025). Under his leadership, Accion MFB was named Microfinance Bank of the Year in 2022, 2024, and 2025, receiving international acclaim for technological innovation.
Taiwo holds a BSc and an MBA in Finance and Banking from the University of Lagos. He is an alumnus of the Advanced Management and Leadership Programme at Oxford University's Saïd Business School and is currently a Doctoral Research Student at the University of Lagos.
Committed to mentorship, he actively guides emerging professionals and entrepreneurs. Outside of work, Taiwo (affectionately called TJ) is an avid golfer and served as Captain of the Ikeja Golf Club (2021-2022). He is married to Bolatito Joda, an educator, and they are blessed with three children.
