I would like to support mentees by helping them bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world professional practice. Drawing from my experience across academia, banking, microfinance, and financial advisory services, I aim to guide mentees in developing strong analytical skills, ethical judgment, and practical problem-solving abilities.
Specifically, I can provide value by offering structured guidance on career planning, professional certifications, and skills development in areas such as accounting, finance, data analytics, and financial management. I also intend to mentor mentees on how to build a strong professional profile, including CV development, interview preparation, and strategic networking within professional and industry circles.
From an entrepreneurial and leadership perspective, I can help mentees understand how to design and manage sustainable business models, especially in financial services and small business environments. This includes insights into credit analysis, risk management, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and digital transformation.
Additionally, as a lecturer and research supervisor, I can support mentees in academic growth by guiding them on research methods, critical thinking, and publishing, as well as encouraging lifelong learning and continuous professional development.
Overall, my goal is to help mentees gain clarity, confidence, and competence—equipping them not just to secure jobs, but to build meaningful, ethical, and impactful careers.
Key accomplishments
I am an accounting and finance professional with over two decades of combined experience in academia, commercial banking, microfinance, and financial advisory services. My career has been shaped by a strong commitment to building financially sustainable institutions, developing human capital, and applying analytical thinking to real-world business and policy challenges.
Currently, I serve as a Lecturer in the Department of Accounting at the University of Benin, where I teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Financial Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, Business Statistics, and Business Analytics. In this role, I have supervised numerous undergraduate research projects, developed course materials and textbooks, and actively contribute to curriculum development and capacity building for future finance professionals.
In the financial services sector, I am the Founder and Chairman of Mipraise Investment Limited, a licensed microfinance institution with operations across Benin City and Lagos. Over the past decade, I have led the institution through multiple growth phases, including branch expansion, product innovation, digital transformation, and regulatory compliance. I previously served as Managing Director, overseeing core functions such as credit risk management, treasury operations, internal control systems, and staff development.
My earlier career includes over a decade in commercial banking, where I held roles spanning credit analysis, relationship management, and operations. These experiences strengthened my expertise in financial risk assessment, corporate lending, performance management, and customer-focused service delivery.
Academically and professionally, I hold a PhD in Accounting, an MBA, and several professional certifications including FCA, ACCA (FCCA), FCIB, CFA, CFP, and ACTI. I am also a licensed Financial Advisor and actively involved in professional bodies such as CIBN, CITN, and ANMFIN, where I contribute to policy discussions, training programmes, and industry development.
Overall, my career reflects a blend of scholarship, entrepreneurship, and professional practice, with a consistent focus on financial integrity, institutional development, and impact-driven leadership.
