How I help mentees
I will help my mentees by sharing my work experience, guide them on how best to achieve success in their careers while keeping to the values, ethics and professional expectations. I will equally share my shortcomings and challenges in the course of my career and how I overcame them.
Key accomplishments
As a bank examiner, I led a team of examiners to several banks; DMBS, Microfinance banks and Primary Mortgage banks. As the team led, I was responsible for budgeting, planing and coordination of the team while on the field. In this regard my managerial skills came to play. I was responsible for the review of sub reports from my team members and discussion of our findings with the management of the bank before the final production of the report and presentation to the management of my organization (NDIC) I was responsible for the wellbeing of my team members while on the field and in this regard my inter personal skills came to play.
In the course of my working career, I headed the payroll administration Unit of the Finance Department (Salaries and Wages Unit). I and my team were responsible for the payment of staff salaries and allowances, tax administration, staff pensions etc. As the head of the Unit, I have to deal with issue relating to the sex of staff, religion, tribe etc in handling some issues. I managed this issue very very well and we had a very harmonious working relationship and we meet and achieved our mandate and met all our deliverables. Furthermore, I had a very close relationship with my staff beyond the official space, they discuss personal issues with me when it seem like it is overwhelming and in order not to allow it affect the job, I offer my advice to them drawing from my experience as an older person and at the end we are good. In this regard my inter personal relationship skills was of great value.
On a final note I will say I am a good team player and that was responsible for my successful career as team member and a team led as a bank examiner coupled with my managerial and inter personal skills in handling personal issues of my staff.
